Walking the Talk
At thinkstep-anz it is in our DNA to enable organisations to succeed sustainably. This means that we cannot just advise other companies to do the right thing in sustainability; we strongly believe that we have to do our share. We decided to ensure that our low-carbon transformation is aligned with climate science with a science-based target verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Our initial target was approved by SBTi in April 2019. In September 2019, our revised target was also approved as we became the first New Zealand company to update its science-based target in line with keeping warming to 1.5°C.
The approved target
thinkstep-anz commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 51% by 2030 from a 2018 base year*. thinkstep-anz also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 emissions from business travel and employee commuting 38% within the same timeframe.
*The target boundary includes biogenic emissions and removals associated with the use of bioenergy.
The Science Based Target initiative has been founded by the World Wide Fund for Nature, CDP, the World Resources Institute and the UN Global Compact.
